Happy Independence Day!
We the people love Apples.
Apple iPhones!
The Big Apple!
Apples grown locally in New York State!
We are here on a mission to set a new Guinness World Record for "longest time waiting in line to buy something."
Until now, there was never anything we felt excited enough to wait for a ridiculous amount of time. We can't wait for the iPhone 3G.
As the old adage states, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." So, for the next seven days, expect to see us eating a lot of Apples, and sharing Apples with our friends. We will have local apple farmers deliver us apples every day. And as the line grows, we will give locally-grown apples to everyone waiting on line.
We are excited about the new Apple iPhone, and the Independence it will provide us. We are so excited, in fact, that we have arrived an entire week in advance of the on-sale date. Coincidence or not, we think that Independence Day is a great day to begin Waiting For Apples!
We have come from all parts of the country, and even from abroad, to set a new record for longest time waiting in line to stimulate the economy of NYC. We could have set this record anywhere, and on anything. But, we heart NYC, the Big Apple. And we love Apples grown in and near NYC. So, what more nourishing place than right across from Central Park, the "lungs" of New York City.
We will celebrate many elements of the New York City's PlaNYC 2030 sustainability agenda:
* We will spend a lot of time in a great public space, around the clock.
* We will use mobile solar power from Solar1.
* We will drink NYC's renowned tap water.
* We will have local healthy food (especially Apples) delivered by our community gardener friends, Greenmarket farmers, and locavore restauranteurs via bicycles and pedicabs.
* We will compost our foodscraps, to help sustain our fragile soil.
* And most importantly, we will talk to whoever happens to stop by about local organic farming as a critical element to sustainable healthy living, food security, youth education, and climate change mitigation.
We have many theme songs, among them:
* The Longest Time by Billy Joel,
* La Isla Bonita by Madonna,
* Livin' on a Prayer by Jon Bon Jovi,
* Rockin' in the Free World by Neil Young,
* Living in the Promised Land by Willie Nelson,
* Across the Universe by the Beatles and also Fiona Apple, and
* Feeling Groovy (59th Street Bridge Song) by Simon and Garfunkel.
Our theme album is:
* More Songs about Buildings and Food by The Talking Heads.
By the way, we are not just buying iPhones for ourselves. We will also purchase iPhones for Barack Obama and John McCain, because the world needs an American president to "think different!"
Feel free to stop by and grab an Apple!
In life, liberty, and the pursuit of apple happiness,
TheWhoFarmers
Athea Aina, Brian, Casey, Dane, Daniel, Dori, Heyward, Lloyd, Kaitlin, Makiko and Yumi.
